U.S. 98 Improvement Project

The $1.3 million U.S. 98 transportation improvement project in Walton County concluded in late July 2010. The Florida Department of Transportation resurfaced a 1.5 mile section of U.S. 98 between the Silver Sands Factory Stores and Baytowne Lane, a main east-west thoroughfare through Walton County.

Improving this highway was a priority for both the community and FDOT because of the significant coastal development that has taken place over the last decade. It’s estimated that approximately 23 thousand drivers use this section of U.S. 98 each day, and keeping it properly maintained is important for both drivers and adjacent property owners.
